Re: Large-dose OxyContin stopped

I have to put my two cents worth in on this issue...back in February or so,
my PCP gave me a script for this drug, only for one week supply...and I went
to my pharmacy to fill it........well within a week of filling this drug I
had an investigator with the local police dept. call me and asked me if I
"ALTERED" the prescription. I emphatically said "NO", that I was a Chronic
Pain Patient, getting ready to have surgery in about 6 weeks, that shut him
right up. Do you know who accused me of this hideous crime?? My own PCP who
wrote the prescription. The pharmacist on duty (now mind you, I have been
going to the same pharmacy for two years!) Was a substitute pharmacy for the
two regular girls that work there, and he called my doctor and said I checked
off EXTRA refills. Now tell me, how can that be? When on Narcotics you can
only get BUT one prescription, with NO REFILLS ?? The guy on duty must have
thought I was stupid, as I have been on Narcotics for over two years now, and
knew this! I believe, or so I was later told, that this substitute pharmacy
had not only done this to me, but to a few other customers....in order for
HIMSELF to get refills on my behalf for his own use, then turn around and try
to get US INNOCENT victims in to trouble. I have never heard another word
from this Detective, and I was also DROPPED by my PCP for this !!!!! I could
sue or could have sued, but I feel it's not worth my time or energy on
ignorant people !!!!
Thanks for letting me vent on this issue, it's one close to my heart and one
that tears me up at the same time. I am now deathly afraid of my current pain
specialist to even prescribe this for my pain, in fear that this or something
similar to this would happen to me again!
