Jessica asked a few questions regarding medical terms on her surgical report. I am only familiar with the omentum. The omentum is the fatty layer between the intestines and the abdominal wall. It's purpose is to protect or shield the intestines.

I am familiar with the term, omentum, because my August 1, 1997 diagnostic laparoscopy revealed that my omentum had adhered to my abdominal wall the full length of my scar from from my 1970 laparotomy...almost as though it had been glued in placed. This has been very painful, but on the other hand I am so thankful that my intestines were not involved!!!

The following website has excellent illustrations of the human body of both men and women. Since parts of our anatomy were mentioned, I thought this would be a good time to post this website here.
