Dear Peggy,

Since you have been diagnosed as having both adhesions and endometriosis - if I remember clearly, I think you said that you are from the state of New York - I believe that your best chance for a successful surgery for both endometriosis and adhesions is Dr. Harry Reich. Dr. Reich ( Scranton, PA ) is located nearest to where you live.

Dr. Reich is very thorough with his surgical procedures! He is able to excise endometriosis implants at even the microscopic stage - all done laparoscopically! Dr. Reich also excells when it comes to lysing adhesions. Bev's successful adhesiolysis in April 1999 is an example of Dr. Reich's skill, experience, and excellence with microscopic laparoscopic surgery.

If I needed to find a surgeon who would be able to give me "the best chance" to be adhesions-free and/or endometriosis-free, my choice would be Dr. Harry Reich. You, of course, are free to choose whomever you want.

If you have a sincere desire to pursue surgery with Dr. Reich, please let me know; and I will direct you to the person, who can help you set up an appointment.

>>I am sorry that you have been treated so badly by so many doctors!! We, who post messages at the IAS site, are very familiar with the "merry-go-round" we have been victims of. If you recognized that you are being given "merry-go-round" treatment from doctors, it is time to get off - and it is time to find a doctors, who will listen to you and who will try to help you!
>>
>>Since endometriosis has been diagnosed by your doctor, it is very possible that you may have endometrial implants ( scar tissue caused by endometriosis ); but did you know that endometriosis can be microscopic? I would suspect that you may still have endometrial implants, implants which are hidden by adhesions and thus not seen by the surgeon.
>>
>>Lupron is one way of treating endometriosis - but most women cannot tolerate the way Lupron affects them. The best endometriosis specialists DO NOT use drugs, such as Lupron, to treat endometriosis; because drugs are only a temporary way of treating endometriosis. Once the Lupron is stopped, it is not long before the endometriosis patient begins to experience the same kind of pain.
>>
>>It is a well known fact that not every obgyn knows enough about endometriosis to treat endometriosis in the best way possible. The very best way to treat endometriosis once and for all is to seek an endometriosis specialist! The following doctors are some of the best endometriosis specialists in the United States: Dr. Andrew Cook from Louisiana - Dr. Robert Albee and Dr. Thomas Lyons from Georgia - Dr. Mark Perloe from Georgia - Dr. Camran Nezhat from California, Drs. Ceanna and Farr Nezhat from Georgia - Dr. David Redwine from Oregon, and Dr. Harry Reich from PA
>>
>>The above specialists believe that excision surgery is the best way to treat endometriosis. These surgeons are very skilled, very experienced, and very excellent surgeons, who have the advanced training necessary to do microsurgical laparoscopic surgical procedures! I know that Dr. Cook actually submits suspect tissues to pathology ( at the time of surgery ) so that he can be reasonably sure that he has excised all microscopic endometriosis, which may be hidden from view.
>>
>>Perhaps one reason for not seeking an endometriosis specialist in the first place is that excision surgery is more costly than drugs, such as Lupron. Not so!! It is highly possible that one surgery done by a surgeon, who is truly an endometriosis specialist, can actual be a very economical way of treating endometriosis.
>>
>>Why do I say that? Too often patients, who have both adhesions and endometriosis, have gone from one doctor to another doctor...from one surgeon to another surgeon - have had one surgery and then another surgery.....only to be disappointed to find that they have spent a fortune - and they are still having problems with pain. For these patients each successive surgery they submit to, will cause even more adhesions to develop ( denova adhesions and re-formed adhesions )...and, as a result, they will find themselves experiencing even more pain than they had before the surgery!
>>
>>To my knowledge I believe what I have said to be true. I have 30 plus years of living with the chronic pain of adhesions. I do not have endometriosis; but I actually became a member of the Endometriosis Association in order to be able to order and read their educational materials. I purchased almost every resource the EA had to offer: books, audio tapes, video tapes, pamphlets. I have also done research on the Internet since fall 1997 in regard to both adhesions and endometriosis. I am not a medical professional; but I feel very confident about the comments, which I have shared with all of you.
