Re: ADHESIONS AND PAIN

Thank you Bernie and Beverly, I sent in that question as I am scheduled for CT sometime soon. This pain has put a real damper on our 4th. Our plans had to be cancelled due to the exhaustion and pain I am experiencing. I notice that when the pain gets worse, I am quite tired and weak with symptoms of obstruction. It feels like a knife is stabbing but at the same time I feel a pulling/burning type sensation deep in my abdomen. I have no ovaries or anything left to blame this on and after a colonoscopy was done, my Dr. concluded that is was most likely adhesions from many abdominal surgeries. All I know is that this pain is interfering with my daily life as well as my family. I pray that I will find out what is causing it and that there will be a cure for all of us who suffer like this. Thanks for the info. Natalie

Dear Bonnie

NOPE!!! Nothing can...nothing!! No diagnostic test known to man today can show an adhesion due to the density of the tissue composition of the adhesion. BUT...a bowel x-ray might show an intestine pulled out of alignment..but still a DR. is leery about giving an interpretation as to the cause of that.....please keep in mind that even though adhesion tissue does not show in a diagnostic test, something else MIGHT show up and that is very important to keep in mind.

Not all abdominal/pelvic pain is caused by adhesions, and not all adhesions cause pain!!
