Looking for an ahesion specialist?

I would like to make a "big" suggestion (in other words.....I strongly advise....or if I were near you I would kick you in the butt!!! lol)to those of you that are seeking a surgeon to perform your adhesiolysis. DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR STATEMENTS THAT THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT ADHESIONS....or that they have performed numerous adhesiolysis procedures. You need to go on and ask more questions. There are plenty of doctors out there that can reassure you that they understand the development of adhesions and that they can help you deal with them by placing barriers., etc. We have all been to doctors that think they can handle our adhesions. I think that they either have fooled themselves into believing they are helping us....or that they are looking out for the almighty dollar. Many have heard it said that there are doctors out there that advertise that they can cure our adhesions in 2 to 13 surgical procedures. What kind of claim is that? We all know that the more procedures we have, regardless of whether they are laparscopic or not, the more adhesions we get. So we keep going back to these doctors to help us with our pain.....as it gets worse and worse. And then there are the doctors that are truly sympathetic to our pain. They can perform adhesiolysis' too.....and yes, they might relieve our pain....for a while. But next thing you know.....its back.....probably worse than ever. We can't buy in to the doctor's convincing us that they can help us.....unless we know that they can. I cannot emphasize more that we need to ask our doctors questions. Find out what their procedure is for lysing the adhesions. Ask them to put into writing what their procedure is....and then bring it back to this group. The worst thing that any of us can do is accept a doctor's statement that we need surgery and that he can help, without investigating it further. Try and find out just what kind of success ratio they have. I am not trying to take away anyone's hope or confidence in their doctor....believe me. I have been there. I allowed one doctor to perform 26 surgical procedures on me....having all the trust in the world in him. Now here I sit....basically unable to find a doctor willing to perform surgery that will allow me to continue to live. Yes, I have found a doctor....at least I think I have. Everything hangs on a little string....contingent on there being no further precautions. Don't let yourself get in my boat. I am not saying that Dr. Reich and Dr. Redan are the only surgeons out there capable of doing the surgery. They are the only two that I have total confidence in....but there surely may be more throughout the country and now Dr. Korell in Germany. For those of you where money may be an issue...as it is with me and others....even though I have insurance (Medicare and Blue Cross) it may still be cheaper to go and have it done in Germany...paying the entire thing out of my pocket. Anyway, I went off on a tangent there....you have to ask your doctors questions. Sherry Perry found Dr. Daniells. Sherry was ready to let doctors mess up her entire bladder. But, she realized that it was time to start asking questions and she found a doctor that successfully removed her adhesions and she no longer has the bladder problems that they were torturing her for.

For those of you new to this group.....go to the adhesion quilt....read my story. I am Karla N. I think you will understand why I am begging you to be careful in allowing surgeons to perform any more procedures on you. It is imperative that you stop the cycle now....before you become like me....or worse yet....die.

God Bless each and everyone of you and I love you!

Karla N.
