Hi All,

To all those having surgery soon - my thoughts and prayers are with each of your for a successful smooth operation, speedy recovery and then a major improvement in your quality of life!!! It will happen!

Well....I just got back from my consultation at Stanford Medical Center. Remember the old days when we were kids we used to write "CV" on our hand at school and it meant "cootie vacination"? As I began telling this doctor about my pain and symptoms I could almost see her looking fof hre "CV" symbol. I could see her face mask over and withdraw from me. (you warned me Anne H.)

Once again I got the oh-so familiar 20 questions: Are you under stress? How is your home life? Is your marriage OK? I felt like saying "Hey lady, my life is just peachy despite the fact that my guts feel like they are ripping out most of the time! I've only taken sick days off of owrk so far this month and spent $$ on doctors. My hubby and I haven't had sex in three months but really..........I don't feel stressed out at all. Oh, I see....adhesions don't cause pain.....gee, I had no idea! I feel so much better now. Thanks for fixing me up Doc...here's your $$$$$$$$$".

Did I let her have it....no! Did I break down in tears and lose it......of course! I'm at a loss as to what to do. The nearest pain management specialist is 2 1/2 hrs. away from where I live. As you all know, being in the car is miserable.

Awwwww.......sometimes it just feels hopeless! Thanks for listening though...it felt good to just right it out. I've already had to explain myself upteen times at work...because people just don't understand this disease. But fortunately and unfortunately at the same time......I've got a great group of supportive people who do understand - sadly cuz they've been there/done that.

Love, Verna
