Re: Adhesions and Endo

Marianne, before I had my tah/bso I was dx with ovarian cancer too. Instead they found severe extensive endo & adhesions. Within two months after my hyst, many of my pains returned, and I too felt like I was getting a period and the area where my left ovary was ached so much. My abdominal pain was like hot coals in my belly. My back & hip ached so much, with lots of left leg pain. I realized that my doctor had not removed all the endo during the hyst and I had surgical excision with an endo specialist 8 months after my hyst. He found A LOT more endo and adhesions in me. He also found left ovarian tissue. I feel so much better after my surgery. Actually it was the best I had felt in over 26 years! A couple of months ago the back/hip/leg pain returned and I have difficulty bending and moving. Like I'm frozen up or something. I also have had bowel problems. I also feel a pulling and ache where that darn left ovary used to be, especially during bowel movements. I attribute these pains to adhesions, but of course not sure. My gi doctor feels I have a partial bowel obstruction on the left side.

Is it possible that your doctor did not remove all the endo from you, including microscopic endo? Have you relayed all this info to your doctor? I recently read in the Endometriosis Sourcebook that adhesions can actually be as painful as active endo. I believe, the only way that endo and adhesions can be diagnosed is via surgery.

I am hoping you are able to find answers and solutions to your pain also! Thank you for your words of encouragement, I could really use them.
