Dear Wendy:

I know what you went through. I went a week with ruptured appendix. I didn't have an abcess because they left the incision open but some nasty stuff was in there. Needed a lot of antibiotics, etc.

You need to ask your gyn if they have ever done a laparoscopy and lysed(cut) the adhesions. I know of only a few doctors who have experience doing that. Dr. Redan, Dr. Reich and Dr. Korell. The thing you want to avoid is open abdomen surgery since more adhesions can develop the more surgery you have. You also want someone experienced in the scope surgery who knows how long and tedious the surgery can be. My gyn was over her head, thought it was ovarian cancer and when she saw it was adhesions and a pseudocyst, just drained the cyst and closed me up. She also told me to live with the pain because no doctor would attempt to do any further surgery. That's when I found Dr. Redan at the forum.

Let me know what your doctors says. It would help you if your gyn really believed that the pain you are having is from the adhesions. Most doctors don't believe that adhesions cause pain. My PCP believed me and helped me get a referral to Dr. Redan. If you can't go to Scranton or New York, Dr. Redan is more than willing to review your records and make recommendations to your gyn without any charge.

Good luck, hope to hear from you soon.

kathy
