Stacy,

Don't be too scared but I may not have good news for you. The more they go in the worse and more adhesions you will get. My 2nd lap for adhesions, which were really bad, worked for a long while. But, in oct of 2000, I had a hysterectomy with removal of my right ovary. My gyn said my right ovary was nothing but adhesions and I had them pretty bad. Three months later I was having bad pain again on my right side. Just so happen because of needing an emergency surgery for repair to my "cuff" (from hysterectomy, had a tear, hole, going through to abdomin) , she also did a lap to watch and check the repair from above, she said I had an adhesion that had grown and attached to my bowels lifting them up on my right side. Also covered with them under my bowels. I am now not able to work and trying for disablity because it has gotten so bad. She told me no more surgeries until it was blocking my bowels. It would only be a temporary fix and would cause more adhesions in the long run. After that last emergency surgery (lap & repair) I had a severe infection, hospitilized for 4 days and sent home with IV meds. But I would say in less than 2 months from that surgery my pain had returned. She said mine were growing extremely fast! I'm now doing pretty bad. I was up ALL night last night and still up at 2:30am tonight. I'm so tired I hope this has made sense to you. Also, my abdomin has been lined numerous times with Intercede, a barrier to slow or stop adhesion growth. Has not worked for me but I would definitely request it!!!

I hope and pray this does not happen to you!! You may not have any trouble at all. Everyone is different. But usually once it starts it keeps going and getting worse. Endo patients get it easier because of the disease and the surgeries. I had endo. Please don't think I'm terrible for telling you all this, I just want to make you aware. I thought a hysterectomy would be the begining of a healthy life for me but unfortunately NOT! I will be praying for you. Just have a good heart to heart with your doctor. Give it a try! Some people suddenly stop with all the problems!!

Sorry so lengthy! If you need to talk, e-mail me anytime!
