Hi Julie

I had a hysterectomy and removal of my remaining ovary and tube at age 30, after 2 living children and 7 miscarriages. I had suffered adhesions before the hyst. so I was hoping the operation would reduce my problems. I am in my mid 40's now and have advanced pelvic adhesive disease. I am in pain to the point of needing pain management for the last 6 yrs, usingMorphine for relief.

My point is, once the uterus was removed, the adhesions found their way to the bowel and bladder and wrapped around whatever organs they could find. The missing uterus didn't stop the problem, it simply gave the adhesions one less organ to stick to.

I can't advise you against or for the surgery. Only to think carefully. More surgery will probably create more adhesions regardless of whether it's done vaginally or through the belly. They still have to cut the uterus free to remove it, and cutting causes scarring.

I hope you have an opportunity to get a second opinion. It should not offend your doctor in the least and it may offer you a different perspective.

Best wishes and good luck

ginny
