Janet: Thank you for the VERY warm welcome! I feel very fortunate to work in what is now the largest phamaceutical company in the world. The only meds that are currently in the pipeline are newer pain meds and unfortunately, that is it! I wish there were such a miracle cure that disolves them within days, the person whom invents that would be wealthy many times over. I go and see my surgeon ont he 28th to discuss another surgical option. I know my doctors so well, I am on a first name basis with everyone of them, and no one should ever have to see a doctor that much. The medications that I am taking currently are oxycontin 10 mg. 1 or 2 tabs twice per day. This medication gives you up to 6 to 12 hours of tolerable relief, and unfortunately didn't work much yesterday as I was in my doctors office with my backside exposed getting another IM demerol injection to bring the pain under control. The other two meds that my pain clinic doctor prescribed was Hydroxyzine HCL 10mg 1 tab twic a day and Clidinium CDP 1 tab twice a day. The last one mentioned can also increase the effect of the oxycontin for about 4 to 6 hours. I think this surgical go round I will be pushing for the pain pump. I have tried to lead as normal a life as possible and have been lucky to do that when I can. There are days when I literally am bedridden and have no desire to move expecially when I find a comfortable position. My surgeon has educated me to the fact that there is only so many surgeries that a person can have in a lifetime. One being that there is only so much anesthsia that the body can handle and two, my stomach is such a mess that they are literally scared to do anything due to the amount of adheasions that are in there. To put it in his words, it looks like every available space has adheasions attached, and they don't want to do anymore unless it becomes life threatening or I am in the situation that I am currently in. It is my hopes that if a great number of us band together so to speak and bring enough awareness to what is going on, then maybe more future research will be warranted! To the person that wrote Montel about this illness, please allow me to accompany you on that show! Here is wishing all of you a WONDERFULLY pain free moment! Kris
