It is a shame that your doctor will not prescribe oxycontin as this was the
only thing that actually gave me some relief! The bad press that drug has
gotten lately is simply a fact of the drug addicts or people looking for an
intense high once again ruin it for the people that would really benefit
from it. I think one of the misconceptions of prescribing narcotics is that
we somehow recieve some sort of 'euphoric' high from the meds, but, what the
medical profession, (with the exception of the VERY nice nurse that is a
part of this group) they fail to understand the difference between seeking
to get high and seeking to get relief. In this case the expression "people
fear what they cannot understand" seems to fit this situation. I hope that
you get a doctor that understands what we are going through and can help you
get on the right meds.
