Tonight the TV media had this to say about television icon, Carrol O'Connor -- As one loveable bigot, Archie Bunker said: " Case closed! "

** Carroll O'Connor, a fellow ARD sufferer was laid to rest today **

Carroll O'Connor, best known for his role as the quarrelsome patriarch, Archie Bunker, on the acclaimed 1970's comedy series All in the Family starred in the TV series In the Heat of the Night from 1988-1994, passed away at his home from a cardiac arrest at the age of 76.

Born in New York City, he met his future wife, Nancy. Carrol traced his family roots to Ireland; and while visiting Ireland, he decided to stay and attend the college of theatre and acting, which he did. He convinced Nancy to join him there and they were married while in Ireland -- living there for the next 10 years before returning to the USA, where he continued his acting.

After 10 years of marriage, he and Nancy went to Italy for a movie he would be acting in. While in Italy they adopted a son, who they named " Hugh " and he became the love of their lives! Hugh acted along with his famous father in the series In the Heat of the Night. Carrol O' Connor said they were among the most precious years of his life as Nancy was a frequent visitor on the set and he never tired of being surrounded by his family!

We can pay tribute to this wonderful father, husband and actor whom we so enjoyed for many years. He was defintely an all around good person -- as he gave so much of himself to the world.

Though he leaves his wife, Nancy, and his daughter-in-law and grandson, he joins his son, Hugh, in what I am sure is a celebration of eternal life; and together they shall wait until once again he is surrounded by his family!

May Carrol O'Connor rest in peace.

** October1999 - Carrol O'Connor underwent an adhesiolysis at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California following pain he suffered as the result of a prior gall bladder surgery.

** November 5, 1999 -- Carroll O'Connor Recovering

These have not been the days for All in the Family actor, Carroll O'Connor. After surgery to remove scar tissue(adhesions) from a previous gall bladder operation, he is expected to be discharged from the hospital this week. O'Connor, 75, best known for his role as quarrelsome patriarch, Archie Bunker, on the acclaimed 1970's comedy series All in the Family has been at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California for nearly a month. He was admitted Oct. 6, 1999 hospital spokeswoman, Lindi Funston, says.

She says the nearly month-long duration of his hospital stay was not unusual given O'Connor's age. " He looks very, very good," Funston says, adding that doctors expect to release the actor in a few days.

O'Connor had been experiencing discomfort caused by the buildup of scar tissue, called adhesions, from gall bladder surgery which he underwent years ago; so doctors operated to remove the adhesions, she says.

Since Saturday, the actor has had some company in his hospital suite. His wife, Nancy, who had been at his bedside daily, was admitted as a patient in his room for intravenous antibiotic treatment of a skin infection she suffered after a recent fall from a ladder, Funston says.

Mrs. O'Connor is to be released at the same time as her husband, the spokeswoman says.

Since leaving All in the Family O'Connor starred in the TV series, In the Heat of the Night from 1988-1994; and had recurring roles on the Fox series Party of Five and on Mad About You as Helen Hunt's father.

Thank you, Bev, for sharing this information about this well-loved TV personality!!
