Dear Helen,

I have used a TENS unit in the past. It did sometimes alleviate some of the sharp jolting pains that I would get. That was unfortunately about six years ago. I occasionally now go to a Chiropractor for manipulation of a rib that continues to get dislocated and the TENS units seems to help with that type of pain. I mean recent pain but interrupting the nerve pathways that register pain in the brain. I do know that I have been told that it is not recommended to wear a Tens unit constantly without a break (taking it off). It is trying to alter the nerve response by interrupting a path that has been started by irritated nerves like changing the electrical current in a short-circuited electrical line. I would encourage anyone to try it because it is non invasive to the body and you just might get some level of relief even if it is short lived it is some kind of relief Right! I do not have any ideal of the cost. Try to see if you could possible rent one from a pain specialist or a chiropractor. I hope this info is of some use. I will ask my chiropractor this week if there is anywhere to get more info on the TENS units ok. Take care and good luck with your relief.
