Dear Ginny:
In your message you stated that when you fill out the pain from it gets sent
to your state legislator. This is incorrect. It gets sent to a state rep.
(meaning a person that is representing the ASAP site in your state) and will
help you find a pain specialist in your area if there is one. These are just
people like you and I that care and will try to help you find a pain
specialist, but many times there are no pain specialists in one's whole state
and the person must travel to another state in order to find a doctor to
treat their pain. Please do not fill out the pain form and forward it unless
you are seeking a pain specialist as I think the state representative would
get quite confused as to what they are receiving. If you do need assistance
in finding a pain specialist then you can forward the pain form. If you go
to compassionate doctors and your state is listed you will find a list of
doctors that you can call directly (this is your best bet for finding a
caring and compassionate doctor that will treat your pain accordingly.

specialist that will treat your pain and the doctors can be called directly
with no intervention from a state pain rep. Please continue until see you the
words STATES ARE NOT LISTED IN ORDER and search until you may find your state
- many states are not listed (not one compassionate doctor in your whole
state).

This may mean there are no doctors in your state and you may have to travel
but I found my pain specialist here and he has been a savior - he is located
in Centreville, VA
I think what you are doing in compiling this information is admirable, but I
just wanted to clarify the above information. I myself a year ago had to go
to the ASAP website to find a doctor and was blessed that I found one through
a state rep. in Maryland. I do have to travel to VA, but it is well worth it
and a few other IAS members have also followed me there.
So that we don't duplicate one another I am sending the IAS News Letter to
all the Compassionate Doctors listed at the ASAP website so that they will be
informed about ARD.
If anyone has trouble finding a compassionate doctor you can also contact
Skip Baker directly at 757-229-8536 (afternoons are best for him) as he has a
list that he will only disclose to an individual that will complete the pain
form and mail it directly to him. These doctors do not want their names
posted openly.
Also, you can join the ASAP discussion group if you go to Skip's site Click
here: 2ThePatient and you will see that there are hundreds of others
suffering from other diseases that are unable to find caring compassionate
doctors to treat their pain and that there is a War on Drugs going on across
the country, and we the ARD patient need to be among those that are fighting
for the right to ongoing narcotic pain medication.
Sincerely,
Helen Chalmers
