US patients’ rights bill challenges Bush administration

A patients’ rights bill that US President George Bush threatened to veto has led to senior Republicans joining with Democrats to pass the Bill. Mr Bush claims that the legislation would “put the interest of trial lawyers before patients”, but a similar Bill was comfortably pushed through the House of Representatives two years ago, leaving Mr Bush in “serious political waters” over his opposition to the current Bill.
