Appointment to see the surgeon and take all my tests and OR Reports along for the past 1-1/2 years is August 3, at 1:30.
I based my decision on:
1. He specializes in "complex revisions and reconstructions" as well as "muculoskeletal infections". 2. Dr. Sculco (who has very high reviews on the hip site) referred me to him. 3. Great reviews from lots of people on the fabulous hospital care. 4. They also have spinal problem surgeons in-case that would wind up being part of my problem. 5. Rated #2 hospital in USA for Orthopedics (as good as Philly is suppose to be is rated #39 or something like that so I am moving up quite a bit). 6. My insurance is accepted by surgeon and hospital. 7. The surgeon in Allentown, PA never got back to me after almost 3 months.
I like that "both" hospital and "surgeon" sound good....downfall is NY, but I guess there has to be something bad. He doesn't "just" specialize in regular hip replacements he specializes in the revisions (re-replacements) and not just normal revisions, but "complex" cases, and we all know that is me for sure. If it would still be infected (if was before) he also specializes in the infections.
Hopefully I have made the right decision and he can figure out my problem...and with as few visits to NY as possible! Hate to think I could make this dreaded trip and not get answers!!! NOW....we are deathly afraid of the traffic we must face next and finding the place (country folk)!!
I made the appointment for a Friday in-case I wind up in too much pain and can't bear to drive home right away or if we get lost, that way my husband only misses one day of work! JEAN
