I was suffering greatly before being put on the oxycontin; I couldn't even leave the house before being prescribed the oxy. I started out on two 20 mg 2 x day with another narcotic prescription for breakthrough pain as oxycontin is a 12 hour time-released pill, and sometimes you will get breakthrough pain and one needs another fast-acting pain killer for the breakthrough pain. Having the oxycontin allowed me to live a somewhat normal life, where otherwise, I would have been confined to the house. I could drive, work, do housework, take care of the children without the groggyness of most narcotic pain meds.
