Dear Collette:

There is a lot of pain after an adhesiolysis done laparoscopically (small incisions), so I can only imagine what the pain is like being cut wide open. When you decide to have surgery, please seek out the best possible surgeon that is very experienced with the lysing of adhesions.

I did have the wonderful opportunity of being able to go to PA, but I have been told that there are many other wonderful experienced surgeons in the US that can perform an adhesiolysis laparoscopically and one would not have to be cut wide open. In PA I was not promised that it would only be done laparoscopically, but was told that if they had to cut me it would only be the size of a fist and I would not be sliced wide open; with that promise I went into surgery relieved that I would not awake with hundreds of stitches running from my ribcage to my pubic bone. Please make sure when seeking a surgeon that he could possibly give you the same sort of promise - that you would not be sliced open.

Love,

Helen Chalmers
