Dear Kris, Pain meds are for people in pain. Only you can say if you need
them. If you can live without them, it's better not to go down that path, but
if the pain is so bad you can't function, and all you think about is pain and
you start to get depresed because your pain is constant or periodically is so
bad, you have to lay down and moan, then you deserve to and should be taking
adequate pain medication in my opinion. I don't think any of us should have to
live with pain if there is anything we can do about it. The medicines come
with a price, literally and figuratively. They cost money, cause some people
to feel nausea or sleepiness or constipation. Everybody is different. But
please don't feel badly for asking for something to alleviate your pain.
Please look at the adhesions web site, read the quilt, read the articles and
old e-mails about pain especially those from Helen Dynda. There is a wealth
of information at http://www.adhesions.com And one last very important comment, if
you are thinking of adhesion surgery you need a specialist and the person who
does the operation may be the biggest decision you make in your life. You
need to really think about it first. And in my opinion, a laproscopic
surgery is much less intrusive than an open, big cut that may casue more
adhesions. Good luck, with kindest regards, Sally Grigg
