Dear Phil,

Sorry you had to go through this, but I think with these kinds of docs, we should thank our lucky stars that they don't operate on us...better to wait for someone who is experienced and educated with the treatment of adhesions.

I have decided against surgery until I absolutely can't take it anymore. So far I really have only seen a couple (out of hundreds) improve after surgery, often the problems become a lot worse and I think we all have to consider this very seriously before making the decision. For my last surgery any risk was worth it because i was so sick at 33 I couldn't barely move out of bed or eat. The way I see it now is that I have pain and symptoms but I don't feel 'sick', I don't feel like I'm dying like before and likely it will take me getting real real sick before i would consider surgery.

I hope that Dr. Paget will try managing your pain with medications first. I currently manage my ARD with a mushy diet to avoid bowel obstructions, narcotic pain meds, as well as some natural care such as massage, yoga and meditation...the combination of all of these things has me feeling healthy in mind and body in spite of the pain and symtoms.

Until there is a cure, surgery may not be your desired course. I have been told that I am not a good candidate for either Intergel or SprayGel, so really, my only choice is to help my mind and ways of thinking/looking at things.

I hope this helps, I'm afraid I've rambled...

Love,

Janet
