Dear Helen:

I had a tubal ligation done in 1989, but I did not begin experiencing pain until about 8 to 10 years later. When I had the diagnostic lap done in March of 2000, the surgeon (gynecologist) noted only one or two small adhesions in the area of the tubal ligation

If there were any adhesions present at the time of the tubal ligation (which I suspect there were, as the original surgery was in 1962, and it is in that area where the most and densest adhesions are located), nothing was said to me at that time.

Adhesions have been mentioned to me many times over the past 39 years, but no one ever suggested doing anything about correcting them. Even now that I have been diagnosed laparoscopically, no one in this area seems to want to surgically correct the problem to ease the pain - at least not until they cause a complete bowel obstruction.

To the best of my recollection, the tubal ligation in and of it's own did not cause me any problems. Hope this helps.
