Dear Cheryl:

Your pain specialist usually prescribes the medications for you, as that's their job to know what works for what. Also, PCP's are less likely to want to get involved with prescribing pain medication (they seem to get real nervous when you mention the word narcotic pain medication) and will even tell you that you need to see a pain specialist. You could tell your PCP that you have an appointment with a pain specialist, but if you don't get any satisfaction you'll be back. If your pain specialist was gotten from the ASAP site they are usally very compassionate, understanding and do believe that ADHESIONS CAUSE PAIN. Good luck to you.

Love,

Helen
