Hi Clare:
I am also in Canada - down here in NB. Talk to your gyn about a diagnostic
lap to look for adhesions, but also ask for a referral to a pain
specialist. Personally I haven't had any success with non-narcotics or
NSAIDs, but I did have a fight with my GP to get something stronger than
Ibuprofen or codeine (which didn't work for me at all - I'm one of the
unlucky 30% that can't break it down).
It's hard to fight the medical system here, especially where I am in a
small town. The nearest specialists of any kind are 75 miles away. And
you will find very few surgeons in Canada who are willing to operate on
adhesions for the very reason that you have stated - surgery can make
adhesion pain worse. Medicare here doesn't pay our surgeons enough to go
in and spend the time necessary to do the job "right" the first time.
Sorry I can't be more optimistic for you, my friend. I'm not having a very
good day, which always affects my outlook, as you have discovered for yourself.
Good luck Clare.
