Risk factors for developing osteoporosis include:

Smoke cigarettes If you are interested in contributing to women's research you may want to participate in a research study exclusively for women. Female volunteers, between the ages of 40 and 75, postmenopausal for at least one year and at risk for developing osteoporosis, are currently being screened for a clinical research study. This study will determine the effects of a medication approved for lowering cholesterol in the prevention of bone density loss. The medication has over 9 million patient years of experience.
