Dear Patty:

Yes, it is a vicious cycle, but if the surgeries aren't working, why have another one? Some of us have decided that pain management is the only recourse right now until we have more choices regarding surgery; i.e., a surgical ahesion barrier gel has just been passed by the FDA and should be in use by next year here in the states and also there's a spray gel that has had good results that should be in use by next year. These may be the breakthroughs that we have all been waiting for, but just a regular adhesiolysis doesn't seem to work (as you have found out). Perhaps you should take a breather for awhile before you end up worse off than you already are. Of course your surgeon is going to push you for surgery after surgery as she is putting money in her pocket, but every time you have another adhesiolysis you are putting yourself at risk for perhaps a knick of the bowel or bladder, then what?

In Friendship,

Helen Chalmers
