Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about everything your daughter is going through, how old is she?

I'm also suffer from a lot of bowel blockages, due to adhesions and a horrible bowel disease - my story is on the quilt if you want to read it.

For the last couple of months I've been making an attempt to cope with my bowel blockages at home. Usually they will pass, sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes it takes longer. When I get a bowel blockage I go on a liquid diet - if I get sick of sweet stuff - I will make say boiled potatoes, and I will add flavourings, then I will throw the whole lot in the blender - so I can drink it. It is very important to try to avoid getting de-hydrated. If I start to vomit constantly, and I can't stop it I will go to the accident and emergency department of our hospital. Yes, it is very painful. I am glad that your daughter can have pain medication, so she can find some relief.

I found the following sites very helpful for chronic pain - and how to cope with it

http://www.vicpain.com/paingen.htm#SELFHELP - this site is provided by the Victoria Pain Clinic in Australia

http://www.painsupport.co.uk/survivalskills/index.htm - which is provided by Pain Support from the UK

The IAS site has lots of info regarding adhesions, it has explained a lot of things for me.

I hope you will find the help you need. And that your daughter can have a better quality of life.

Kind greetings,

Linda Vermey (From New Zealand)
