Cheryl: re venography & ovarin vein embolization

Dear Cheryl:

First of all, sorry for the mixup, but my name is Sue - accidentally put my sister's name down.

Anyway, venography is like an angiogram if you've ever heard of that. The radiologist injects dye into your femoral vein via a tiny catheter to check for clots, etc. and in my case, looking for pelvic congestion.

Ovarian vein embolization is the equivalent to what is done for men for varicoceles in their testicles. A chemical or coils are placed inside your ovarian vein at a specific location to block the blood flow and in so-doing, stop the blood from pooling in the pelvis which is pelvic congestion - instead of the blood flowing back up like it should, it pools in the pelvis causing a great deal of pain.

Hope this helps.

-Sue
