Dear Beth C. Yes, it is possible to have a day in which the pain does not dominate you. Most days, I take oxycontin. I function at a very good level (I was going to say high level, but the topic isn't really funny). Anyway, different people have different reactions to drugs. I am not a doctor, and can not give medical advice, but there must be a medicine out there for you. The tylenols, anti-inflamatories, etc and some of the over the counter stuff is actually worse for you than the straight opiates. If you are going to have to take pain medication for a long time, you need simple things. I've found oxycontin to work for me, but then again, I can only give my personal opinion. But I'm back running the Inn, etc. Don't mix up a lot of things either. The combination can make you sick and drowsy. Take care. Love, Sally
