Bravo girl! Go to the head of the class! An excellent definition, and
possibly a good explanation of it's origins as well. My dad was from
Scotland, and he used it a lot too, so maybe it is an immigrant thing ;)
And yes, the things that come back to us that our parents used to use are
scary - my aunt died when I was just young, but I can still hear her
calling my sisters and I "gettles", and I still cry for my daddy when I
hear a Scottish brogue.
