Well, girls, I have SBS!!! It is going on 2 years this year...When I had surgery, they cut all but 121 cm (4.5 feet) and I was diagnoise w/SBS. The hospital in Madison, WI didn't have any speciality in SBS. They obtain information from the Nutrition Center in Massachuettes how to treat patients w/SBS. I follow their diet, medication, etc...It does work and it does take some time for your body to adjust. I take flagle (MetranzoneSPELL?)antibotics due to overgrown bacteria in the colon and that is one of the common symptoms. I will be taking flaggel for life. Without it, I have major diarreha, vomiting and cramping. I used to have 8-9 movements a day. NOw it is cut down to 2-3 a day. The diet does help. Before this diet, I ate EVERYTHING (Cheesburgers, fries, pizza, beer, steaks, YOU-NAME-IT-I-CAN-EAT-IT!) Not anymore. Occassionally I will have cheese pizza for deprivation...My dog and I will share a small bag of french fries from McDonalds! You can talk to me at tracigenz@yahoo.com.
