Hi Debby,

I think Karla was heading back to hospital so I will answer your questions about antibiotics for her. You see Karla & I have been close mates for some time and I have spoken to her on the phone from Australia to US during some of her worst moments...

Karla has had problems with her urostomy for years and doesn't have a good "seal" and therefore continually leaks urine, very off putting for her and it makes her feel miserable and less comfortable about being out amongst strangers (i.e shopping). She almost died last year due to severe infection and her family was called to her bedside. Over the many, many years Karla has been enduring countless surgeries and infections, she has built up a resistance to most antibiotics.

These days Karla must be very ill indeed before the doctors will even consider treating her with antibiotics, there is little left to save her life should she get a massive or aggressive infection.

Karla's case is VERY serious and complicated and I also know from our many conversations that dialysis or kidney transplant are not options for her either.

The best we can do for this gutsy lady is pray and be here for her whenever she needs us.

My love and prayers are with you Karla my friend.

Love & warm gentle hugs, Jo
