Hi Becky:

I'm not sure if this is your first post to the forum - if so welcome! I hope we can be of some assistance to you. Please feel free to browse the quilt and the archives for information as well. For volumes of wonderfully informative info, type "Helen Dydna" (minus the quotations) plus whatever your topic is i.e. "surgery", and you will have very accurate information at your fingertips.

Before you have your next surgery, please read as much as you can at this site, especially in regards to Spray Gel, which is a new barrier that appears to be quite successful.

To "keep on going on", each of us uses slightly different techniques as not everyone reacts in a similar manner to a specific diet etc. I do take Metamucil as well, but when I feel as though I may be getting a partial obstruction, I discontinue the Metamucil for a while. Gentle exercise helps those who can - I do try to walk as much as possible (when I am well). I don't take pain killers either, so I use diversion etc to help me out. http://www.bombobeach.com has an excellent section on coping. Finally, I drink as much water as I can, which really seems to help keep things moving along and I believe helps considerably with the pain.

Becky, these are just a few of the things I find help me to deal with these nasty adhesions. I am no expert though LOL! I do hope I have been some help to you. Please know that you are not alone, there are countless others around the world who understand what you are dealing with. Feel free to ask any questions you have and we'll do our best to help you out.

Best wishes. Clare
