I was told this every time I went to the ER before I had my subtotal colostomy done. There is a test they can do to show the transit time through the small & large intestines. You take a pill that has markers in it. The do an xray every day to see where the markers are. This will tell them if the excessive stool is caused by a transit problem. Mine took 7 days to pass through & there were still a few in the right colon. Hopefully this finds you a little more comfy. Take it form me I know what it is like to have excessive stool. I was drinking 48oz of Golytley a day & maybe having a bowel movement every week or 10 days. Ask your doctor to check it now before there is no movement at all which was the case for me. My GI doctors had said I had IBS & guess what mine was the exact opposite. (Thank God those doctors do not work for the health system where I am seen.)
