Hi April,

I am glad that I was able to answer some of your questions. I don't know if you can still have sphincter of oddi with a gall bladder, but since you still have your gall bladder I would look at that as my primary source of pain, although I am no doctor. I remember back a couple years ago before surgery with Dr. Redan (I didn't have Dr. Reich has my surgeon) and Dr. Gerhart, I had a hida scan and they said nothing was wrong with my gall bladder, but boy did I have pain there after eating mostly. And it shot through my back like a knife sometimes. The day before my surgery in PA two years ago, on speaking with Dr. Gerhart in his office, they tried to do another hida scan at the hospital but the nurse couldn't get a good IV in me to inject the dye. So when they went in to do my surgery they looked at my gall bladder and it was covered in adhesions and it was not in good shape. I hope you can get some answers to your pain real soon. And I know I am looking forward to knowing whether or not I have adhesions in my gall bladder region or maybe it's something else. At least it will put my mind to rest. Dr. Gerhart said I was making the right decision to do this now, than to wait and possibly be in more pain down the road. I wish you every success at find the source of your pain. Best wishes to you, I know pain can really be horrible to deal with. I am a baby when it comes to pain. Let me know how you are making out and what if anything you do find out. I will be thinking of you. I'll keep you posted on my surgery. Maybe I'll bring my laptop with me to PA and I can put it to good use. Take care and stay in touch. A new friend, Karen Carter
