I have never paid a dime for copies of my medical records. When I request them I just tell them that they are for a second opinion or additional medical care. Its been so long since this was discussed on here, but I do believe that they cannot or just plain don't charge you if it is to seek further treatment. If they ask me for a name, I provide them with one if I have it, otherwise, I just say that I haven't gotten his name yet, but I want to present the records to him/her myself at my first appointment. Maybe this will help for you. Karla brilliant50@yahoo.com wrote:At Fri, 14 Mar 2003, Lynn Creacy wrote: >

I thought that they had to give the records free of charge. If this is so, how do I go about getting them without having to pay more. They are already getting enough of my money.

Every record that I have ever received,
I had to pay for. I've also had to pay for
records that was needed by my lawyer.
