Regarding hospital personnel talking in the presence of a patient. One
time I was caring for an elderly female pt. who was unconscious. A
young intern came in to draw blood and I assisted him. He talked to me
over her body and then asked me for my phone number. I told him we
could talk in the hall and he walked out. Just then, the pt. without
opening her eyes said, "I wouldnt; go out with him if I were you, he
isn't very nice, there are much nicer ones around her!". That was all
she said, even though I talked to her every time I was in her room
giving her care. But, I didn't take her advice, ent out with him only
once and she was right, he was a jerk; I ended up taking a cab home!!
