Re: Digestive Problems, Headaches & Leg Pain

Hi Caryn: I had a hysterectomy as a last resort because of the pain caused by the adhesions. Apparently my body likes to make a lot of them. They started because of endometriosis, but by the time I approached the 3rd surgery, it wasn't cyclical anymore. The endo lesions didn't come back, but the adhesions kept coming back. The pain I was describing in my post was debilitating. I spent about a year on vicodin. I had surgeries with a regular GYN and then a endoscopic specialist who was sure he was going to solve my problems. I kept trying because I wanted to avoid the hysterectomy. When the pain, and digestive troubles, returned after only 3 months, I was advised to have a hysterectomy. While the hysterectomy did not cure me of adhesions, they did come back, it did remove the greatest source of my pain. Apparently my uterus was being pulled toward my colon and the resulting upset caused nerves to be pinched. Once my uterus was gone, my pain did get significantly better. I manage my symptoms now with diet and medication (not pain meds). I find if I can keep the food moving quickly through my digestive system, there is no pressure in my abdomen and the pain is very mild. If I eat the wrong thing, or fail to have a bowel movement each morning, the pressure quickly builds and the pain gets worse. I take a medication called zelnorm which helps food to move quickly through my system. I am managing my symptoms until there are significant improvements in the treatment of adhesions here in the U. S. I am corresponding with one of those Pennsylvania doctors and I think I'll try to go there once that Spray Gel hits the U. S. market. I think I can wait the 2 years that I'm told it will take. As long as it doesn't get any worse.
