Part 4 of 4...To find a surgeon, who is aware of and uses adhesion barriers

You need to know that at this time there aren't any adhesion barriers that will offer 100% protection from the possible recurrence of adhesions or the formation of new (de novo) adhesions.

To find a surgeon, who is aware of and uses adhesion barriers at the conclusion of a surgical procedure, you can contact Dr. Wiseman <http://www.adhesions.org/contact.htm> to ask him "if he can provide you with name(s) of surgeons, who perform adhesiolysis procedures in or near the state where you live.

When contacting surgeons that Dr. Wiseman "suggests", you are advised to contact several surgeons - preferably by phone - and that you ask the following questions:

1.) What is their success rate with adhesiolysis procedures?

2.) What are their views about adhesions and the problems that adhesions cause?

3.) What techniques do they use to remove and prevent adhesions?

4.) Do they have access to other doctors, who need to be involved in an adhesiolysis procedure - such as general surgeons, gynecologists, pain specialists, etc.?

Prospective surgeons' answers to the above questions will help you as you determine if his/her adhesiolysis procedure will offer you the BEST chance for a successful recovery from ARD.

To become adhesion-free and thus pain-free as a result of an adhesiolysis is NOT realistic; because at this time there aren't any surgeons in the entire world, who can guarantee that an adhesiolysis will be 100% successful. Before you actually choose a surgeon for your adhesiolysis procedure, it is especially important that you carefully interview several surgeons - by asking the questions I've included in this series of 4 articles.

In order for you to know the right answers to the questions you will be asking surgeons about their adhesiolysis procedures, it is your responsibility to learn as much as you can about adhesion related disorder (ARD)!!

Now that you have some ideas/information to help you as you begin your search for a surgeon, choosing one of these surgeons is a decision only you can make!! I hope that you will find this information helpful!! Good luck in your search!!!

A special "Thank you!!" to Beverly Doucette for providing "the lion's share" of the information in this series of 4 articles!!
