Hello everyone. I had laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair back in 1998.
Everything seemed fine until late 2001 when I was put off work because
of recurring pain in the area where my hernia repair was done. The
specialist I was seeing told me that I might have adhesions and that
further surgery might make things worse in the long run so he put me off
work for four months and things seemed to get better. It is now July of
2003, and the pain is back, exactly where the inguinal hernia repair was
done. Only now, it seems to be affecting my bowel movements(ie: watery
diarrhea, cramping). I'm going for a colonoscopy soon to see if there's
anything wrong in there. The pain comes and the bowel problems start
for a week or so, then it gets better and things return to normal for a
week or two, then it comes back. When it's at it's worst, it feels like
gas is trapped in my intestine right where the hernia repair was done.
This seems like too much of a coincidence to me, but until I get some
tests done, I won't really get any answers I suppose. Anyone else have
experience with this type of problem?
