Saw pelvic pain specialist--2 new possible conditions!

Thought I would post this info, as I've received 2 possible diagnoses for abdominal and pelvic pain, and they are conditions I'd never heard of!

Brief back story--docs thought I had endometriosis, but when they went it for lap on 7-3-03 they found adhesions but no endo. They removed adhesions from tubes, ovary, and bowel. At 2.5 weeks post op, went in to see dr and he said I shouldn't be having as much pain as I still had (pain between belly button and pelvic bone, intercourse and sexual arousal pain, urinary and bowel abnormalities and pain), so he sent me to a pelvic pain specialist.

New doc thinks I have pudendal nerve nueralgia, which would explain sexual arousal, bladder, bowel movement pain, and occasional sharp pains in urethra, vulva, clitoris and anus.

He also believes I may have pelvic congestion syndrome, which is basically varicose veins in the pelvis. This can cause deep pain during and after intercourse, persistent low level abdominal pain that seems to increase during the day, irregular periods, and varicosities in your buttocks and upper legs.

So, I thought I'd share my continued saga, as well as offer the information for anyone who is experiencing similar problems. It seems that both conditions are only now beginning to be understood, and my doc felt that the adhesions could have contributed to either.

Johns Hopkins has a website (http://www.dvpcenter.com) and I also web-searched on both conditions for more info, if anyone is interested. There isn't much info out there, but there is some.
