Question about pain meds--Naltrexone?

Hi everyone,
I have a question for those of you taking narcotic pain meds for pain
control. I have a PM doctor who is great and has found a combination of
meds for my pain, however he also has me taking Naltrexone. He
explained to me that it prevented withdrawl symptoms and "addiction" to
the narcotics. I haven't heard of anyone taking this drug. I guess I
am just checking up to make sure I am being given the right meds and not
something that I don't need. I was told that the Naltrexone would make
sure I was getting all the benefits of the narcotics without the bad
effects. Is this true? Any input would be appreciated.
