I wanted to talk to all you fellow sufferers about
what can be done for this horrible problem.I have
just recently found this site and it's wonderful.
I dont know much about what sort of specialists you
have all used, but it is so important to be aware
of all the possibilities.
I suppose most of you know about spraygel, the
dangers re: bleeding, diathermy, drainage tubes,
etc. but there are so many things to consider.
**Great Reference- EndoGyn (Drs. Kruschinski &
Reich)Gasless Laparoscopy
- these guys know adhesions and their site is w
ell worth checking out. I hope you all have
Drs in your areas who use the latest techniques.
Corrective surgery (adhesion lysis)
- requires a GIFTED SURGEON (actually two) who
have advanced training and follow the right
procedure METICULOUSlY. Use a specialist laparoscopist
/gynacologist who has studied advanced laparoscopic
techniques AND works in conjuntion with a bowel surgeon
for those bits (some endometriosis specialists are
qualified to do advanced adhesiolysis - are very skilled
- and you dont need endo to use the special clinics, it
can be a good place to start).
I believe I found my dream (brilliant) surgeon and
had corrective surgery, although it's early yet (9 days)
I am more hopeful than ever before.
Brief History
Very messy laparotomy at age 14 (from misdiagnosed burst
abscess) causing scepticemia, unilateral oophorosalpingectomy,
etc.) After years of pelvic and abdominal pain (the attachment
of abdominal/pelvic walls also caused a back and neck
problem) A second laparotomy 10 years later
- Dr'cleaned me up'and made everything worse. I became a
wreck, an absolute wreck, barely functioning for 5 years,
wanted to die at times - you know the story.
Recent Surgery
He did cold cutting, used no heat(coagulation)or
stitching etc,- meticulous handling of tissues, kept
area dry (no fluid to drain).
Removed extensive pelvic/abdo, omentum, adnexal(very
important)adhesions mobilized the bowel etc. So far
as I said, I am very hopeful, Will keep everyone posted.
Good luck all you brave ladies.
