'redundant bowel' diagnosis after hysterectomy??

Just over one week ago I had a complete hysterectomy. I've had painful periods for years, with excess bleeding, as well. My doctor told me post op that he was surprised to find 2-3 feet of excess bowel on my decending colon, which had been attached to the uterus, probably causing quite a bit of the pain.

I have had constipation for years. I've just learned to deal with it and not talk about it much. After all, it's kind of embarrassing, and generally I'd rather not mention it much. My doctor said I hadn't told him, but I told him "I checked all the boxes, he just didn't ask any more questions..."

Anyway, now that I have this "proof," what's next? It's kind of frustrating to think about all those years of feeling like I needed to get more exercise or drink more fluids... Now at least I understand WHY I've had pain for all these years.

Thanks for listening.
