Colon restriction due to adhesions

My mother who is in her late 80's had sugery three
years ago to repair a perforated intestine that
went un-diagnosed for seven days. In the last
two years she has severely bloated nine times
(looks nine months PG).
Then only way she has been able to relieve herself
is to gag and throw up. A CT scan recently
revealed a mass in her ascending colon. A scope
was ordered and no tumors were found. The doctor
did experience problems getting the scope through
a restriction in the colon about 25-30cm in. The
doctor is saying that this restriction is
caused by adhesions and is causing the bloating.
He has put her on a stool softener to help the
stool move through this area. He does
not recommend surgery.
Any thoughts?
