Hi Maureen,

The decision to have surgery is a very personal one. Its difficult for anyone to advocate for or against a surgery unless it is their own body.

If your are in tremendous pain and your Dr. thinks he/she can operate safely on you (i.e. can still see all of the surgical landmarks and not cause any greater damage) then you should probably consider it. If the adhesions are blocking off the areas like the bellybutton or other areas where the tools in a laparoscopy go in then surgery (at least laparoscope) is probably not the best answer. I have had multiple surgeries and am not really a candidate any longer, because surgeons can no longer clearly see the way in.
