adhesion help please!

Hello to all! I have had so many problems with
adhesions. I had extensive endo diagnosed with
a lap and had a hysterectomy in 2001 because I
couldn't stand the pain anymore. My gyn doctor
told me that he had never seen so many adhesions
and scar tissure and apologized for not doing
anything sooner because the pain was so bad.
I was pain free for about 3 months. Then the
pain returned full force. He said there was
nothing more he could do for me and the I would
have to learn how to live with the pain. My
husband was livid and I was devastated and did
not know what to do.
Had recurrent urinary tract infections and found
out that the left ureter was blocked with scar
tissue. I had 4 procedures to clean out this
and had stents for about 8 weeks at at time.
The pain would come back each time. Finally had
to have surgery to reimplant the ureter in the
bladder to avoid losing the left kidney, which
of course involved an open abdominal incision and
was pain free for about 2 months. Pain returned
so was sent to a neurologist who did an MRI,
which came back normal. Urologist said there was
nothing more he could do for me and when the pain
got too bad to just get off my feet and to lose
some weight. I could not believe it and cried the
whole way home. Needless to say, I changed urologists.
My primary doctor sent me to a surgical specialist
who did surgery to remove the adhesions and said
that I had massive adhesions and had to take my
bowels out of my body, clean them off, and put
them back in and that they were stuck to my
abdominal and stomach wall. Pain never went
away.
Continued having UTIs and went back to urologist
and had an IVP done and found out that now the
right ureter is blocked, although no pain on that
side, and had procedure to fix that, and the
urologist said that any more sugery would be life
threatening, but also could lose my right kidney
because now he thinks the right side is blocked
again. Scheduled to have another IVP July 5 to
find out.
Went back to my primary doctor again for the pain
and he said that he would try to help me, but now
says that there is nothing he can do and that he
does not give chronic pain meds for abdominal
pain and back pain. But will not give me a
referral for pain doc because "they will ruin
you", he says.
The pain is so bad that I cry most days. I am
gaining weight because I cannot exercise and am
already overweight. Should I go to a gastro doc
for the nausea and stomach upset or try to get a
referral for pain doc?
I live in Mobile, AL and do not know of any
adhesion specialists in this area but am looking
into the Birmingham area for some. I am sorry
this post is so long, but I felt that I need to
tell my story to see if anyone can give me any
advice on what to do. I hope everyone is
feeling alright today and thanks to anyone
who reads this.
