what should I do?

My husband had a big surgery when he was 11 years old after that, he
developed adhesions .
when he was 24 he had his first small bowel obstruction ,and was in the
hospital for a week ,no surgery was needed .He was told that there is no
cure and when he feels really sick to just go back to ER. Now he is 26,
just had another small bowel obstruction, and luckily did not need a
surgery.
Since this happened I've been reading about adhesions and trying to get
as much information as I can.
He feels pain almost once a week and then it goes away by itself.
Should he follow any special diet, go to get x-rays often, or just wait
until it gets worse?
As a wife I'm very scared .
PLEASE SOME ADVISE .
