Subject: in response to Debbie's Liver/Diaphragm adhesions
hello -
you know my problem is near/above or below or on the diaphragm as well.
I've never heard anyone else say that before.
my problems are in that area due to a gallbladder surgery done 20 years too
late and done piss poorly at that.
when I couldn't breath and would (yes, true but embarrassing...) I would run
in circles calling help ! help! - I mean when you need air, you need it now,
you know.
not in 30 minutes when the doctor calls you.
anyways....
they all thought it was anxiety - the catch-all phrase that really means "we
haven't a clue what the problem is here",.
so they gave me Ativan.
and 2mg Ativan apparently relaxes the diaphragm or something, and allows me
to take a deep breath.
as for the pain -
since no doctor would give me vicodin or other pain relief measures on a
regular basis -
and that's what I needed - when I need it, it's there. not begging the
doctor for some when I can't even sit to drive to his office.
I mean come on!
so what did I do?
I went to one of them methadone detox clinics (I have Medicare, though I'm
just 38. just, ha!)
anyways.... so that way I made sure I got a dose a pain relief on a regular
no-need-to-beg-for-it basis - and Ativan when I can't breath.
and hey.
I can get out of bed today.
I can drive, walk, plan and go through with plans now.
and if that means taking methadone and Ativan every day?
then that's what I'll do.
beats my old life of begging er doctors for one a pain pill or running in
those can't-breath-you-gotta-help-me -PLEASE events.
- J
and Debbie - good luck with you, I know what that's like.
feel free to write anytime if you feel the need to talk.

I also have adhesions on my diaphargm which impede my breathing and I have
to wear oxygen to bed at night. My o2 saturations dip into the low 70's. I
have an enlarge liver with adhesions present however they are not stuck
together to the best of my knowledge. I never had endo. So i don't know if
that's what caused your's or not.

Subject: Liver/Diaphragm adhesions
I'm curious if there are any other board members who have this problem.
My liver is attached to my diaphragm by adhesions as noted during a
surgery several years ago. Due to the proximity to the hepatic vein it
was decided removing the adhesions was too risky. This surgery was
performed by a well known pelvic pain/endometriosis/adhesion specialist
so when he was reluctant to remove adhesions I figured I was doomed to
live like this.
With a history of severe endometriosis I have to wonder if it's endo
that caused the adhesions on my diaphragm/liver...I'll never know.
I've complained of RUQ pain for many years. Eventually I had my
gallbladder removed and while pathology showed my gallbladder was,
indeed, diseased, it was chronically inflamed, my RUQ pain continues.
The pain is always there. It's a constant dull ache that sometimes
turns into a sharp, stabbing pain. Certain movements can exacerbate the
pain and it has even woken me from a sound sleep if I move wrong.
I've got a history of wildly fluctuating liver enzymes and wonder if
this could in any way be associated with the adhesions. At the present
time I'm awaiting approval from insurance to undergo ERCP to rule out
biliary blockages.
I was really more curious than anything to know if there are others with
liver/diaphragm adhesions and, if so, what symptoms you may be
experiencing.
Thanks!
Debbie
