Alan,
Your wife can have the scar tissue removed but I would guess that 99% of
adhesion sufferers that have had adhesions removed, get them back. If she
chooses to have surgery, then you need to search out a surgeon that
specializes in adhesion removal. That won't guarantee success but you have
a better chance.
Her other option is pain management. Unfortunately, narcotic pain relief
seems to be one of the few things that helps somewhat. Then you have all of
the side affects.
I have had three adhesion surgeries. Two of them from specialists, and one
out of the country. I have them back again but I believe that they aren't
as severe as they were at one time or else I have been in pain for so long
that I tolerate it better.
Just wanted to give you my opinion. I also know that exercise and massage
can help a little.

Absolutely, adhesions are the most likely culprits. They occur immediately
after surgery and grow from any scar. The only relief is to have them
removed. Laproscopy is the preferred method.
